Woman Killed in Road Rage


On Monday, November 30, 2020, a 39 year old woman who was NCP activist and head of a women's organisation has been allegedly killed by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants following an altercation in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district, said by Maharashtra Police on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.Police added, the victim has been identified as Rekha Bhausaheb Jare. On Monday, she was going from Pune to Ahmednagar in a car along with her mother, son and a friend when the unfortunate incident happened at 8:20 pm.

According to the police's statement the victim's car overtook the motorcycle at Jategaon Ghat in Parner, located about 230 km from Mumbai, following which the accused moved ahead and stopped her car by parking their motorcycle in the middle of the road. The police added that the accused had an argument with the victim. Jare was the president of a local organisation which works for women's welfare named as Yashaswini Mahila Brigade. Jare's other family members who were in the car tried to intervene to stop the argument, but the argument continued.

During the altercation, one of the motorcycle accused allegedly pulled out a sharp knife and slit the victim's throat following which she collapsed.Very soon after the incident the accused flee from the spot, and the victim's family members rushed to the hospital, but she was declared dead before admission. Under IPC section 302 murder, a case has been registered at Ahmednagar's Supa police station against those unidentified accused, incharge of that police station said, he also added that police are trying to find out the accused and also trying to ascertain the exact reason behind this cruel attack. Further investigation is underway.
