AAP Loses Punjab Bypolls

Aam Aadmi Party loses in Punjab


The bypoll results of three Lok Sabha and seven assembly seats across five states and Delhi, were announced on Sunday.

The counting of these results started on Sunday morning with  firstly,  opening of postal ballots followed by the EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines).

BJP candidate Ghanshyam Lodhi won with a margin of over 40,000 votes from Uttar Pradesh's Rampur.

Again a win for, BJP candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' was observed from Azamgarh too.

He won over his nearest rival, Dharmendra Yadav of the Samajwadi Party.

The bypolls were necessary to be conducted after the resignations of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and one of their party leaders, Azam Khan from Azamgarh and Rampur seats respectively.

The ruling party, BJP won three assembly seats along with Congress bagging one in the high-stakes by-elections of Tripura.

Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Saha, who was necessarily to be elected to keep his post,  also observed victory in Bardowali by a margin of over 6,000 votes.

Akali Dal's (Amritsar)candidate, Simranjit Singh Mann won bypoll in Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's seat of stronghold Sangrur with near about a margin of over 5,000 votes.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate who on Rajinder Nagar bypoll by over 11000 votes in Delhi.

Necessitated to be elected in the wake of AAP leader Raghav Chadha leaving the seat after being elected to the Rajya Sabha recently.

Further fill up for a vacancy after Industries Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy who died in February, was met up through By-elections in the state of Andhra Pradesh as well.
