AAP To Launch Agitation Demanding Free Electricity

Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party has promised free electricity in Gujarat!

On Wednesday, The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to launch a state-wide campaign demanding free electricity today.

The party - which hopes to make electricity free in the state like Delhi - is slated to hold programmes like rallies, pad-yatra (protest marches), mashal yatra (torch processions) next week between July 16 and 24.

On June 15, the Gujarat AAP will hold press conferences at the district level. Afterward, party workers will go to collector offices and make representations demanding free electricity for the public," party's state unit president Gopal Italia said on Tuesday.

The party led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that its Gujarat organizational structure had been dissolved to restructure the party unit with the aim to defeat the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the state Assembly elections. Alongside over 850 office bearers, Isudan Gadhvi was appointed as the national joint general secretary of Gujarat and Indranil Rajguru was appointed the national joint secretary of the state. Officials say that further changes may be made in the party ranks.

The party has however remained mum about its Chief Ministerial candidate for the polls due later this year. "Once the party announces the candidate for Chief Minister, votes should multiply. The party will announce the CM candidate at the right time for the state too," said Gujarat AAP in-charge Sandeep Pathak last week.
