Acknowledge the pride of being a Student: World Students' Day, 15 October

World Students' Day, 15 October

15 October is celebrated as World Students' Day to commemorate the service and great deeds of 11th President of India, Missile Man, a Man of Words, the most inspiring leader of all time, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. In 2010, in order to honor his efforts to promote education, his birth anniversary was declared as World Students' Day globally by the United Nations Organization (U.N.O)

Excellence and struggle to excel were principles he inspired and every student aspires. Kalam Sir was an adorable and lovable soul who enlightened many lives in his lifetime by igniting the urge to learn among students and sharing his struggles, failures, successes and knowledge with them to motivate them to achieve their goals in this world full of opportunities. He quoted "Look at the sky. We are not alone. Whole universe is friendly to us and conspires to give only the best to those who dream and work." Being such a radiant and blissful man, he always stressed on the importance of dreaming your goal and working in the right direction to achieve it. Whenever an ode to teachers would be crafted, his name would be chiseled in Golden letters.

Being a great teacher or mentor, he always wanted to be remembered as a teacher in minds of posterity. Maybe this was the plot that almighty laid to reminisce his great work and our beloved Mr. Kalam left us biding his final goodbyes on 27 July 2015 delivering the last lecture of his life at IIM Shillong. A day which unfortunately took away the brightest star on this planet that led many students out of the web of contemplation and brought their dreams to action. He came as a student, learnt a lot in lifetime, shared a lot as a teacher and left us with the ideas he imparted.

The greatest period in a child's life is the journey of learning and being an ignorant soul, embarking a ship, sailing through worldly ideas to capture and grasp. Being a student, one must not leave any stone upturned to explore this world of facts and venture to the deepest mysteries it encompasses. Celebrate the joy and pride of being a student or passing a phase of a student life. All humans on this planet learn something new everyday which makes them a part of the learning process and indeed a student. Have courage and tenacity to accept new things and appreciate this process of development.
