Actor Junior Mehmood's Dies at 67

Junior Mehmood, a seasoned actor, succumbed to cancer last night at the age of 67 in Mumbai. With a career spanning over five decades, he contributed to over 250 films.

 

His battle with stage 4 cancer became public knowledge two weeks ago, and unfortunately, his condition deteriorated leading to his passing last night at his residence in Mumbai.

 

Naeem Sayyed, known by his stage name Junior Mehmood, played pivotal roles in numerous hit films, such as Kati Patang, Mera Naam Joker, Parvarish, and Do Aur Do Paanch.

 

Commencing his journey as a child actor in the 1967 film 'Naunihal,' alongside Sanjeev Kumar, Balraj Sahni, and Indrani Mukherjee, Naeem Sayyed adopted the moniker Junior Mehmood, a name he carried throughout his career spanning over 250 films. Additionally, he ventured into Marathi film production during his illustrious career.

 

Following a meeting with comedian and actor Johnny Lever, Junior Mehmood conveyed his wish to meet actors Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar, both of whom promptly visited him. The veteran actor had collaborated with Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar on multiple film projects during his career.

 

Sachin and Junior Mehmood shared the screen in notable films such as 'Bachpan,' 'Geet Gaata Chal,' and 'Brahmachari.' Beyond the silver screen, Junior Mehmood also contributed to various stage shows in both India and abroad.
