Adopted minor sister raped in Kanpur, accused arrested…

Police reported that the stepbrothers raped her and recorded an obscene video…

Two stepbrothers allegedly raped their minor stepsister repeatedly in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district. The two accused have been arrested.

During the investigation, they found that the parents of the accused brothers had illegally adopted the victim who is a 16-year-old girl from an orphanage in 2013. However, there are no proper documentation or proof related to the adoption of the girl that have been shown.

The teenage girl told the police that she hails from the Bandra district, and her father left her and her three sisters in their maternal home after the mother has passed away in 2013, news agency IANS reported. The maternal relatives later took the girl to an orphanage.

The orphanage authorities have handed the girl over to businessman Mehboob Ali and his wife Shahjahan Begum who are from the Nala Road in Kanpur. When the girl was adopted, she was just five years old. Police reported that the family had no legal documents that could justify the girl’s adoption and that the girl had been hence adopted illegally. Police informed that both the stepbrothers had repeatedly raped the girl and recorded obscene videos of her. They later threatened the girl that they would make the video viral and used it to the minor further.

The accused stepbrothers are arrested and will be booked under relevant section of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) and Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The minor girl will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and sent for a medical treatment. News agency IANS reported that a further investigation is underway.
