Afghan Refugee Shot Dead in Delhi.

70-year-old shot outside his house in Vikaspuri area by two armed assailants.


In a gory incident that took place on Monday evening a 70-year-old man was shot dead by two armed assailants in Vikaspuri area of West Delhi, as police said on Tuesday. He was immediately rushed to the Sehgal Hospital on Outer Ring Road but declared dead as he received a bullet injury on his head.

The deceased has been identified as Attam Singh, who is an  Afghani refugee and has settled in India around 28 years ago. According to the police reports, Singh works as a sewadar of Gurudwara Guru Hargovind Sahib Anandpur located at Karala’s Dham colony. He also dealt in sale and purchase of properties.

“The incident took place around 5.20 pm outside Singh’s house when he was exiting his car. SHO (Vikaspuri) was informed about the firing incident. he immediately rushed to the spot and the victim was taken to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival." He had bullet injury marks on his head,” said DCP (west) Deepak Purohit.

He further added, “We have come to know that two men on a motorbike and wearing helmets were seen near Singh’s house. As Singh got out of his car, the pillion rider fired at him. The duo escaped after the incident. Our investigations also point at some property deals in which the deceased was involved. We are probing the case from all possible angles. ”

A case was lodged under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Court (IPC) and the Arms Act at Vikaspuri police station, said the DCP. No arrests have been made yet.
