Afghanistan: 32 dead, 53 wounded in Kandahar mosque blast

The explosion comes a week after a suicide attack occurred at another Shiite mosque in the northern Kunduz city.


Multiple explosions hit a Shiite mosque in Kandahar city of Afghanistan during the Friday prayers, killing at least 32 people and injuring 53 others. The explosion comes a week after a suicide attack at another Shiite mosque in the northern Kunduz city which was claimed by the local affiliate of ISIS Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K) group.

According to reports, a death toll of more than 30 has been confirmed and around 15 ambulances were seen rushing to the blast site. An eyewitness told AFP that he heard three explosions, one at the mosque's main door, another at the southern area and the third at the place where worshippers wash and clean themselves before offering prayer.
