Afghanistan crisis: Panjshir resistance forces claim hundreds of Taliban captured

According to the sources, the opposing forces had captivated about fifteen hundred Taliban fighters on Sunday, reported Al Jazeera.

Afghanistan's National Resistance Front (NRF) on Sunday said it had surrounded "thousands of terrorists" in Khawak Pass due to which the Taliban left their vehicles and equipment in the Dashte Rewak region, reported Al Jazeera. The resistance forces and Taliban are still fighting with the aim to take over the Panjshir Valley, which is the only part that is not in control of the Taliban yet.

According to the sources, the opposing forces had captivated about fifteen hundred Taliban fighters on Sunday, reported Al Jazeera. NRF spokesman Fahim Dashti said that "heavy clashes" were going on in the valley. Mr Dashti claimed that Paryan district had been fully freed from the captivity of the Taliban forces.

Mr Dashti said that about 1,000 Taliban fighters were either killed, injured, or taken captive after the exit passage behind them was sealed, according to Al Jazeera. However the Taliban spokesman, Bilal Karimi wrote on his Twitter handle that their fighters had captured five of the seven districts of the province.

So far, both sides have claimed to dominate the battle in Panjshir but none could provide evidence to prove it.
