AFGHANISTAN: MURSAL NABIZADA, LAWMAKER KILLED

FORMER AFGHAN FEMALE LEGISLATOR


In Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, a former Afghan female legislator included with one of her bodyguards have been shot dead at her home, police said.

 

Earlier in the United States government that was deposed by Taliban in August 2021 Mursal Nabizada had been a member of its parliament. Among few female parliamentarians she was one of them who stayed in Kabul after Taliban takeover.

 

On Sunday, “Nabizada and one of her bodyguards, was killed in her house,” Khalid Zadran, Kabul police spokesman said.

 

“The police security team has started a serious investigation of the incident,” he said.

 

Around 3am on Sunday, the incident took place, according to local police chief Molvi Hamidullah Khalid.

 

He also said Nabizada’s brother along with second security guard both were wounded and a third security guard has left the scene with money and jewelry.

 

To represent Kabul Nabizada was elected in 2019. The parliament defence team of which she was a member and part of a private non-governmental group, the institute for Human Resources Development and Research.

 

Nabizada was a “fearless champion for Afghanistan” a former lawmaker Mariam Solaimankhil said on Twitter.
