After the Uttarakhand glacier burst, the UN offers support

Uttarakhand faced a massive glacier burst killing almost 10 people up until now.

The United Nations issued a statement on Sunday offering aid to India following the catastrophic floods in Uttarakhand. "The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the loss of life and countless lives following the recent snowstorms and floods in Uttarakhand, India, on Sunday. -UN António Guterres. "The United Nations is ready to contribute to the ongoing rescue and rescue efforts if necessary," the statement continued.

The statement comes as Uttarakhand in India battled floods after part of the Inanda Devi ice sheet in the Chamoli region dissolved on Sunday. The sudden flooding on the day at the Dhauli Ganga, Rishi Ganga and Alaknanda rivers - all of which are heavily connected to the Ganga - caused panic and a massive rise in the highlands. At least 10 people have been killed whose bodies have been recovered and more are missing. Most of the missing people are reportedly workers of the NTPC dual power project - the Tapovan-Vishnugad power project and the Rishi Ganga Hydel Project - who have been hit by floods and flooded.
