Air quality in Delhi remains 'very poor'

Air quality is likely to improve in the coming days…

On Sunday, Air quality in the Nation Capital remained in the 'very poor' category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 320, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).

Delhi Airport on Sunday recorded an AQI of 315, IIT Delhi 349, Guguram 324, whereas Noida 341 - all in the "very poor" category according to SAFAR.

Meanwhile, Punjab recorded 2,467 stubble-burning incidents on Saturday, with Bathinda registering a maximum of 358 farm fires, causing cumulative farm fire cases between September 15 and November 12 to jump to 43,144.

However, the cases were 27 per cent less compared to 58,976 crop residue burning incidents that were reported in the year 2021 in the same month.

According to SAFAR, the air is likely to improve from today with a decrease in the speed of surface winds, and the share of stubble smoke coming from the north-west direction will reduce the pollution of Delhi-NCR.

All construction and demolition work, except for essential projects, is banned in Delhi-NCR.

The curbs were imposed when the air quality was very severe in the first week of November.
