All major lakes and drains to be beautified, says Satyendar Jain

The minister has also asked Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to install a biological odour control system in all sewage treatment plans to stop the progression coming from the Yamuna River.


The national capital witnessed heavy rains after which the city was seen flooded with water. People faced difficulties in commuting as well as vehicles were seen floating in the city. 

The Delhi Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Satyendar Jain on Friday directed officials to draft a beautification plan for lakes and  drains in Delhi. The minister has also asked Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to install a biological odour control system in all sewage treatment plans to stop the progression coming from the Yamuna River.

According to an official statement, the minister said, " All major drains like Najafgarh, Supplementary and Shahdara drains will be converted into clean water channels again… after which only clean water will flow into the drains that empty into the Yamuna.. cleaning the Yamuna is the prime target of Delhi…."

The tweet read," Delhi Government is working towards rejuvenation and beautification of major drains like Najafgarh, supplementary and Shahdara drain will be converted to clean water channels again."

Delhi is also facing issues like pollution and waterlogging which has become a very common site in the capital after it receives heavy rainfall.
