Alleged minor clash at the LAC in Sikkim.

Indian And Chinese Soldiers Clash At LAC In Sikkim.

Amid the ongoing standoff between India and China the soldiers of both the sides clashed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) near the Naku La pass in Sikkim last week. However the Army today dimnished the incident as a ‘minor face-off.’ On January 20 the clash occurred when a Chinese patrol tried to enter the Indian Territory. Four Indian soldiers were injured during the clash and said a prominent source in the government and the China’s People’s Liberation Army suffered an unknown number of casualties. The source also added that there were ‘insignificant and minor injuries’ on both sides of the border.

The statement issued by the Indian Army said  “We have received several queries regarding a face-off between Indian Army and the PLA troops in Sikkim Sector. It is clarified that there was a minor faceoff at Naku La area of north Sikkim on January 20 and the same was resolved by local commanders as per established protocols.” The media should “refrain from overplaying and exaggerating reports which are factually incorrect” added the Army.

Located at an altitude of 19,000 feet the Naku La pass connects Sikkim to Tibet region in China and is a known as a sensitive area. In the same region in May 2020 last year troops of both the sides clashed days before an unprecedented escalation when 20 soldiers of India and an unprecedented numbers of the PLA’s army were killed in a physical clash in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh. Since then India and China have been on a standoff along the Ladakh borders. China's Beijing must restore the status quo to diffuse tension says New Delhi in India. The 9th round of talks between the two sides were held on Sunday and the discussion lasted for around 15 hours till 2.30 AM at Chushul in Eastern Ladakh.
