IMA Demands "additional" Vaccine Dose for Healthcare and Front-Line Workers


The Indian medical association (IMA) urged the government to announce an "additional" dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for the health workers and frontline workers. This statement came to focus after India reported two more cases of omicron and the tally touched 23 cases of Omicron in India. 

As per the Indian medical association (IMA) said, "At a time when India is limbing back to normalcy, this is a great setback. If we do not take adequate measures, we may have a massive third wave."Adding more, it said, India has crossed 1.26 billion vaccinations, with over 50 percent of the adult population vaccinated at least with one dose.IMA appeals to the government to officially announce for the additional doses of Covid vaccination to be given to healthcare and frontline workers.

 

On Monday, according to the statement given by the doctor's civic body they said during a press conference that the latest variant of Corona virus was reported from a number of major states of India, and the tally, which is in double digits, is bound to increase.

 

The IMA also appealed to everyone to avoid massive social gatherings and follow appropriate Covid behavior in the market places. Wearing a proper face mask and washing hands frequently must be followed. It also appealed to the schools to follow the proper behaviour of COVID and ensure that the adults are inoculated with the Covid doses.
