Amid vaccine shortage, Arvind Kejriwal urges not to queue up outside vaccination centres on May 1

From May 1, all between 18 and 44 years of age will be eligible to get vaccinated against the Covid-19.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday the citizens should not queue up outside the vaccination centres on May 1 as there is shortage of vaccines for the time being. From May 1, all between 18 and 44 years of age will be eligible to get vaccinated against the Covid-19. Mr Kejriwal urged the citizens of Delhi not to crowd the vaccination centres as the capital city has not received the vaccine supplies yet.

"Don't queue up for vaccines tomorrow. As soon as vaccines arrive we will let you know, then you can come for shots. We appeal to you not to crowd vaccine centres in the next few days," Mr Kejriwal said. He added that many across the country have registered for the vaccines and they are in regular touch with companies. He said they will probably get the vaccines in a day or two.

According to Mr Kejriwal, the Delhi government would receive around 3 lakh Covishield doses by Sunday. He said both vaccine-makers (Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech) will provide them with 67 lakh doses each. Several states have claimed that they cannot start the vaccination drive as they do not have the vaccine stock yet.
