Amnesty International says to halt the ties with India on Tuesday after getting the Human
Rights Organization's back account frozen.
The human rights watchdogs said the Modi Govt. has done complete freezing of the "bank accounts" by
the Modi government, forcing it to lay off staff and stop campaign and research work in the South Asian
nation.
The Govt. of India said the accusations were "false, unfortunate and far from the truth."
It also had accusations Govt. by the of running an "incessant witch-hunt" and spreading "unfounded and
motivation" allegations.
The human rights group was facing a "crackdown" from last 2 years on baseless financial accusations.
Finally, on 10 September the Govt. has frozen the Amnesty International banks account.
The Senior Director official of Human Rights organization Rajat Khosla said, "We are facing a rather
unprecedented situation in India. Amnesty International India has been facing an onslaught of attacks,
bullying and harassment by the government in a very systematic manner."
He also added that "This is all down to the human rights work that we were doing and the government
not wanting to answer questions we raised, whether it's in terms of our investigations into the Delhi
riots, or the silencing of voices in Jammu and Kashmir."
In August 2016, a case of sedition was filed against the group on the allegations of raising " anti- India "
slogans. The case was dropped after 3 years in the court.
No actions have been taken by the Indian Government of these allegations put up by Amnesty Organisation.
