An outrage unfolds as Arnab Goswami gets arrested

Twitter explodes, along with everyone posting and questioning the ethics of Mumbai Police

Editor-in-chief of Republic TV, Arnab Goswai has been arrested this very morning in a two year old suicide case. The case was reopened recently with immediate investigation as per the Mumbai Police statement.

The whole event was live on Republic TV, they wanted the mass to see what happened. As per Arnab's statement his son was handled cruelty no sense of respect was shown to his mother-in- law and father-in-law. He was shouting they assaulted me.

After this event happened people didn’t shy away and twitter flooded with everyone writing on how bad is this behavior. Some said this was more of the abduction than an arrest. Several Union Ministers via their twitter handle said this is how the press was arrested at the time of emergency, they said they are abolishing the 4th pillar of democracy.

Assaulted, Manhandled and pushed into the van this is how Arnab Goswami unscripted the event.

The interior designer Anvay Naik in his suicide note mentioned Arnab Goswami of not paying his dues which led to his and his mothers suicide. In may announcement was made that the suicide case is being re investigating as Naik’s daughter again filed the FIR. Mr Deshmukh had stated that Adnya believed that Alibaug police had not investigated the Republic's role in non-payment, which, in turn, fired his father and grandmother in May 2018

This whole thing happened amid the TRP scam unfoldings and arnab calling Maharashtra police for one on one unedited interview.

Some of the tweets as follows,

By Prakash Javadkar said, “We condemn the attack on press freedom in #Maharashtra. This is not the way to treat the Press. This reminds us of the emergency days when the press was treated like this. @PIB_India @DDNewslive @republic”

Dr. S. Jaishankar said, “Shades of the Emergency! The arrest of Arnab Goswami is an attack on the freedom of press. Those who really believe in this freedom must speak up!”
