And the deadlock continues

7 th Rounds Of Farmer-Government Talk ends in deadlock

The farmer’s representatives met the government today for the seventh round of dialogue between the two sides in order to break the deadlock over repealing the controversial farm laws but, the talks concluded indecisively since the government and the demanding farmers could not come down to a mutual conclusion. The farmers have refused to back pedal their demands and the government has also refused to move back from its standpoint. The two parties have now agreed to meet on January 8.

Sarwan Pandher who is a part of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee and is present at the meet today said that the Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar is still saying that these new farm laws are beneficial for the farmers. Mr Tomar said that “laws have been bought through parliament and the government is ready to amend the laws and incorporate the suggestions of the farmers.

The farmers today huddled together during lunch unlike last week when they had shared their langar with the participating union leader of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar, Piyush Goyal the commerce and industry minister and his junior minister Som Prakash.

The agitating farmers have threatened to hold a public rally on January 26, the Republic Day in case the government fails to meet their demands.
