Fresh Tremor Strikes Afghanistan After 2,400 Deaths


On Wednesday, October 11th, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook Afghanistan, occurring in an area that had experienced a previous deadly earthquake just a few days earlier, resulting in the loss of over 2,400 lives.

 

Details: As per the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake took place at 5:10 AM local time, with its epicenter located approximately 29 km north of Herat city.

 

Damage caused: No immediate reports indicate casualties or property damage resulting from the recent earthquake.

 

These recent tremors occur while rescue teams are actively engaged in operations to locate survivors in the aftermath of Saturday's earthquake, which has impacted a minimum of 12,000 individuals, as reported by the United Nations.

 

Local and national officials have provided varying accounts of the number of fatalities and injuries from the previous earthquake. Nevertheless, the disaster ministry has officially confirmed that at least 2,445 people have died as a result.
