Anti-terror law filed on medical students in Srinagar, to rejoice the victory of Pak

A video got viral of 2 students celebrating the victory of Pakistan in Srinagar.

Two cases under the anti-terror law, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or UAPA, have been filed against medical students in Srinagar who celebrated Pakistan's maiden IIC T20 World Cup victory against India on Sunday.

Pakistan won by ten wickets over India on Sunday during ICC World Cup T-20 in Dubai. This victory is a comeback of the Pakistani team in the world of cricket.

According to the video, two young medical students were celebrating the triumph of the Pakistan team. Moreover, those girls were shouting pro-Pakistan slogans at girls hostels of Medical College Srinagar and Shere Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences. This video becomes viral on the social media platform.

According to the J&K Peoples Conference leader, Sajad Lone said, that there should not be any action taken against those students.

In a tweet, the Conference leader Mr Lone said, "I strongly disagree. If you think that they are not patriotic enough because they cheered for another team- you should have the courage and the belief to win them back if you think they have gone patriotically astray. Punitive actions won't help. Have not helped in the past either."

As per the official sources, the FIR has been lodged against the two students under the anti-terror law was filed at two separate police stations - Karan Nagar and Soura - in Srinagar on Monday.

The celebration was seen in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir over the victory of Pak. The netizens were cracking fireworks when the Home Minister Mr Amit Shah was there in the town.

Officials at SKIMS say they have constituted a fact-finding committee to examine how the video surfaced on social media showing students celebrating the Pakistan win. The committee will submit the report to the govt in the next 48 hours.

According to the officials, who are investigating said that, "There is no signage that shows that celebration happened inside the Institute. Yet, we are investigating it. A fact-finding committee has been constituted to submit a report to the government within 48 hours".
