AQI in 'very poor' category in Delhi

Minimum temperature settles at 8 °C…

On Saturday Morning, 03 December 2022, Delhi woke up blanketed in a thick layer of smog, as the air quality remained in the 'very poor' category with the Air Quality Index dropping to 341, according to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).

Compared to the air quality on Friday, the pollution level so far does not show any significant change. Yesterday morning, the AQI was recorded at 335 around the same time.

All major monitoring stations in Delhi recorded the AQI level in the 'very poor' category. In Pusa, the AQI was 320 while in the Delhi University area it was recorded at 350.

The index in the airport region touched 328 and for Mathura Road, it was 332. Lodhi Road and IIT Delhi were also in the 'very poor' category with AQI 319 and 311 respectively. However, Nehru Nagar and Anand Vihar's AQI dropped to the 'severe' category.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, on Friday. The maximum temperature settled three notches above the season's normal at 27.7 degrees Celsius, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Meanwhile, On Wednesday morning, the air quality in Noida was in the 'severe' category with the AQI measuring at 401, according to SAFAR. It was 391 on Tuesday. In Gurugram, the AQI measured 339, also in the 'very poor' category.

For context, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered good; 51 to 100 is satisfactory, 101 to 200 is moderate, 201 to 300 poor, 301 to 400 very poor, and 401 to 500 severe.
