Army officer kills Nepali girl

Affair with officer ends in Murder…

Dehradun: A Lieutenant Colonel in the Army stationed in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has been detained for the murder of a Nepalese woman whom he had seen at a dance club in Siliguri, West Bengal, and brought with him to the hill state, according to Dehradun police.

They added that they solved the murder within 24 hours after discovering a woman's body in a suspicious condition in the Sirwal Garh locality on Monday.

The police's inquiry revealed that the woman was from Nepal and resided in Siliguri.

Ramendu Upadhyay, a member of the Clement Town cantonment area, is accused of killing the 30-year-old lady he was having an extramarital relationship with after she began pressuring him to marry her, according to police.

He was taken into custody while at home in Panditwari Prem Nagar.

The accused and the victim, Shreya Sharma, had a three-year relationship after meeting at a dance club in Siliguri. He admitted to taking Shreya with him to Dehradun when he was transferred there, where he rented a flat for her, according to the police.

At a bar on Rajpur Road on a Saturday night, Upadhyay shared alcohol with the woman. He then proposed taking her on a lengthy drive, and she accepted.

However, at around 1:30 am, he parked the car and began repeatedly striking the woman in the head with a hammer until she passed away, according to police, after arriving at Thano Road, a barren area on the outskirts of the city.

According to them, Upadhyay murdered Shreya and then abandoned her body by the side of the road before driving away. They also said that the army officer was already married and under pressure from the women to marry her.
