Delhi C.M. Visits Farmers Protest


As the farmers' protest entered the 12 day , Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inspected arrangements made for them by his government at Singhu in Delhi-Haryana border . AAP and 15 other political parties had lent support to the bharat bandh on 8 December against 3 farm laws passed by the central government.

Arvind Kejriwal stated to thousands of farmers protesting against the controversial farm laws that "We support all demands of farmers. Their issues and demands are valid. My party and I have stood with them from the very beginning. At the beginning of their protests, Delhi Police had sought permission to convert nine stadiums into jails. I was pressurized but didn't permit," yesterday, CM stated in favor of farmers, to all AAP workers across the country will support the nationwide protest and urged citizens of  the country to support the farmers.

CM also stated that, "Our party, MLAs and leaders have been serving farmers as 'sevadars' (volunteer) ever since. I haven't come here as CM but as a 'sevadar'. Farmers are in trouble today, we should stand with them. AAP supports December 8th Bharat Bandh, party workers will participate in it across the nation,” along with providing facilities in support of farmers.

Kejriwal, who is the national convener of AAP talked about the arrangements with at least 300 mobile toilets and 350 water tankers have been deployed at Singhu border.  Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, who is the part of Centre's negotiating team with the farmers allegedly said that they need more time for deep discussions and a fresh proposal will be presented soon.

Peaceful farmers protest is ongoing at both the side of Singhu and Tikri borders, where protesters had gathered from Punjab and Haryana for more than 10 days along with their daily needs. The numbers of farmers at the Ghazipur border swelled, with more joining them from Uttar Pradesh for the purpose of the agitation.
