Ashish Mishra Arrested, Sent To 14 Days Of Judicial Custody

SKM has demanded Ajay Mishra’s termination.


After the Lakhimpur Kheri violence that ensued on 3rd October, where 8 people were killed, of which 4 farmers were run over by vehicles carrying BJP workers and others were later lynched by an angry mob. Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra who is an accused in the case was arrested on Saturday after 12 hours of interrogation and sentenced to 14 days of judicial custody. The UP police are all set to file a remand application against him. He has been charged with murder, rioting and criminal conspiracy.

The investigation is under process though conflicting claims are made about his whereabouts at the time when the incident took place. The police are checking the CCTV at the wrestling venue since he claims to have gone to his house but so far, he has failed to provide any proof about his whereabouts. Sumit Jaiswal, a BJP worker who was present in the vehicle that ran over four farmers and lodged an FIR against the farmers has gone missing.

UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh on Sunday stated that they are not in politics to crush people under SUV. While the Samyukt Kisan Morcha has warned the Centre that the Uttar Pradesh government should arrest and sack Ajay Mishra else it will start phase wise protest. The Maha Vikas Aghadi called for a Maharashtra Bandh today to stand in solidarity with the farmers in UP.
