Ashok Gehlot announces compensation for victims of Jodhpur communal violence

Communal clashes were reported in Jodhpur!


Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced compensation for victims of Jodhpur communal violence that broke out last month. 



According to the statement the CM said those at the receiving end of communal violence in Jodhpur last month will be compensated. The Gehlot dispensation has decided to compensate those who were injured and whose properties and vehicles were damaged in the communal violence.



As per the information, the Incidents of communal clashes over the hoisting of a flag before Eid in Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's constituency of Jodhpur were reported last month that left several people injured. 



Further, the information stated that Police arrested more than 250 people and 33 cases were registered in connection with the violence.



As per the state government's decision, a total of 21 people who received injuries will be paid a compensation of Rs 9.5 lakh. Apart from that, around 69 people whose properties and vehicles were damaged will be given compensation of Rs 7.83 lakhs.



In April, communal clashes broke out in Rajasthan's Karauli when a rally was being carried out by members of a few Hindu organisations on the occasion of 'Nav Samvatsar', the first day of Hindu New Year. Karauli Kotwali SHO Rameshwar Dayal Meena, who was injured in the incident, in his complaint said that the violence started when the rally was pelted with stones while passing through a Muslim-dominated neighborhood.
