ASI marks 410 illegal constructions around Taj Mahal for Demolition

The maximum illegal constructions are around the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri!

Demolition one after another is in the focus, now its turn for the buildings near by to the famous tourist attraction beauty Taj Mahal.

As per the Information, The archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has marked at least 410 illegal constructions within the 500-metre restricted area of the Taj Mahal.

The marking of the illegally constructed buildings comes on the same day when two towers were demolished in Noida for violating norms.

The ASI has filed 2240 FIRs in Agra against constructions in the vicinity of the Taj Mahal and other monuments of the city. The ASI has even issued directions for demolishing 410 of these constructions, most of which are around the Taj Mahal.

As per ASI, the maximum illegal constructions are around the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri. Other lesser-known monuments are also surrounded by illegal encroachments.

Further the information said, a shopping complex of 15 shops was recently constructed in front of Akbar's Tomb Sikandra, barely 250 feet away from the Sikandra Police Station. Demolition orders have been issued for the complex but no action has been taken yet.

Another order has been issued by the National Green Tribunal for the demolition of the buildings illegally constructed in the floodplain of the Yamuna river, but there has been barely any action against the 12 multistorey buildings marked as having been constructed within the flood plain. Only some boundary walls were demolished.

The responsibility for demolishing such monuments lies with the Agra Development Authority and local administration.
