Assam Doctor Arrested For Allegedly Raping Colleague
A doctor from Assam Medical College and Hospital, who allegedly raped a colleague was arrested on Monday by the Dibrugarh police. The accused person named Dr. Sunmoni Bhuyan works as a registrar in the surgical unit of the medical college. Dr. Sunmoni Bhuyan's case has been put under the sections that deal with criminal breach of trust, rape, and extortion.
In the statement of the officer, the women who registered the FIR against this man mentioned she was in a relationship with the doctor since 2018, in which the doctor tricked her into a physical relationship by promising marriage, she also spoke about how the doctor blackmail her for money in the course of their relationship.
This was the second case that happened in Dibrugarh within a week. Earlier on June 24, Dr. Nayan Jyoti Deka, a physician working in a private hospital in Dibrugarh was arrested in a similar case.
