Assam reopens schools for class 10 from September 20

On Wednesday, the state reported 444 new Covid-19 cases taking the overall tally to 5,96,606.


Covid-19 situation is gradually returning to normal mode as few states are witnessing a downfall in Covid-19 cases. The deadly second wave of the pandemic hit the country hard where several lives were lost and the country witnessed a lack of medical resources during the peak.

Closure of schools and educational institutions also hampered the education system. The online mode of education has made children more lethargic as well as students have lost interest for studies. In view of this, several states are reopening its schools. Whereas Assam is also reopening its school for classes 10 from September 20.

The decision was taken by the Assam government on Thursday after witnessing a slowdown in daily cases. According to the statement,  Assam chief Minister  Himanta Biswa Sharma stated, "Classes for class 10 students in all high schools, high madrassas, residential schools and day boarding will be reopened from 20th September. School employees and workers to be fully vaccinated," he told ANI.
