Tihar jail ordered DP to increase his security…

Delhi Police have arrested two members of the gang that attacked the police van ferrying Aaftab Ameen Poonawala, the accused in the Shraddha murder case, from the forensic lab to Tihar jail, where he is currently lodged.

On Monday, Police said the accused duo, Kuldeep Thakur and Nigam Gurjar, were arrested after the attack on Aaftab and were presented in front of the judge at night and were sent to jail.

Police further said that their team was engaged in identifying and arresting the rest of the accused.

Following the incident, the Tihar Jail administration asked the Third Battalion of Delhi Police to increase Aaftab's security. The jail administration said it was the responsibility of the DP to take him out of the jail and bring him back.

Meanwhile, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been deployed outside the Forensic Science Laboratory in the wake of yesterday's attack.

A group of men attacked the vehicle carrying Aaftab Ameen Poonawala, the accused in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, outside a forensic science lab in Delhi's Rohini area on Monday evening.

The men, who were at least 15 years old, attacked the vehicle after Aaftab was taken out of the lab where he was undergoing a polygraph test.

They were seen carrying swords in their hands and started chasing the vehicle. The policemen stationed at the spot had to fire in the air to push away the men as they gathered near the vehicle.
