Pakistani women asks safe public space for them...


Islamabad, Pakistan - To mark international women's day tens of thousands of Pakistani women have started rallied ’Aurat March'.

 

 

Country's capital Islamabad, this year March was held simultaneously, Lahore and Multan in the northern Punjab province, and Hyderabad in the southern Sindh province.

 

 

The Aurat March, held since 2018, has grab attention of huge number of population of the country with its provocative slogans, banners and placards highlighting the issue of women, such as sexual harassment and divorces. 

 

 

On March 12, Karachi will hold the March country's biggest city.

 

 

After the city authorities refused to give permission for March due to security issues, organizers had to approach to the Lahore High Court and the court gave the green light for the march to proceed in the eastern city.

 

 

In Islamabad, women and transgender community members of the community marched and tried to cross a police blockade, they were baton charged by the police. Several members of the transgender community were injured.

 

 

In Islamabad, one of the organizers called the state "anti-women", adding that what the participants faced today was nothing new.

 

"For decades now we have been saying this. Be it the time of previous dictators or today. Nothing has changed,” she said.
