Ayodhya to be added in free pilgrimage scheme says Kejriwal

Cabinet meeting held to approve Ayodhya in the free pilgrimage scheme for senior citizens of Delhi

On Tuesday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that soon the senior citizens will be able to visit Ayodhya and offer their prayers at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir on a pilgrimage funded by Delhi government. He made this announcement when he visited the Hanumangarhi temple to offer prayers at the Ram Janmabhoomi site. On Wednesday at 11 am, a Cabinet Meeting was called to discuss the proposal and for approval.

Arvind Kejriwal further announced that if AAP won the polls for the assembly elections that will mostly likely to be held early next year. Then his government will provide fully funded pilgrimage to Ayodhya for Delhiites. In mid of 2019, the AAP government launched Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana where a batch of 1,000 senior citizens above the age of 60 years were taken on a government funded pilgrimage to Delhi, Amritsar, Wagah border and Anandpur Sahib, later many more sites were added to the list of pilgrimage sites.

For the pilgrimage the Delhi government bears all the charges starting from travel, food, accommodation, paramedical facilities etc. Senior citizens utilizing this free pilgrimage are issued certificates by the MLAs of their respective areas. The ministers of Delhi government as well as the chairman of the Tirth Yatra Vikas Samiti also issues certificates to the applicants. Arvind Kejriwal also said if his party forms government in Uttar Pradesh the residents of the state will also get free pilgrimage to Ayodhya.

“I feel blessed that I could visit the sacred Shri Ram Janmabhoomi and pray to Ram Lalla. I also visited Maa Saryu and Lord Hanuman to seek their blessings. I pray to Lord Shri Ram for my country, for the health and happiness of people, for us to be free from the hard times Covid-19 has put us through, and for peace, prosperity and progress. I hope every Indian gets an opportunity to visit and seek the blessings of Ram Lalla like I have had the privilege today in Ayodhya. I am a mere common man, but God has showered me with his choicest blessings. I wish to utilise the strength and resources I have received to enable people to visit this holy land,” said Kejriwal.
