Punjab Health Minister humiliated Baba Farid University VC
Dr Raj Bahadur the vice-chancellor of Baba Farid University resigned on Saturday morning from his post as the Punjab health minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra insulted him. The resignation was given after Dr Bahadur was allegedly forced by minister Jouramajra to lie on a dirty hospital bed during an inspection. The health minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra visited the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot to note the stock of its infrastructure and arrangements as he received several complaints regarding lack of cleanliness.
The Punjab health minister reached there along with the press and cameraperson where he then humiliated Dr Bahadur for not maintaining the standards of clean mattresses for patients and ordered him to lie down on the dirty mattress. The video of them was made viral and even shared by ANI where Jourmajra can be heard asking Dr Bahadur “it is all in your hands, but what is this?”.
Dr Bahadur is a renowned spinal surgeon in the nation and the project and member secretary of the Regional Spinal injuries centre, Mohali. Dr Bahadur is a reputed doctor in the country. Punjab health minister Chetan Singh Jourmajra received heavy backlash and criticism for treating a reputed doctor so harshly and for his derogatory behaviour.
Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the state Congress chief tweeted on Friday, “Punjab Health Minister's humiliating behaviour with Dr Raj Bahadur is highly condemnable. The Minister must apologise". After Dr Bahadur's resignation Warring added to his tweet, “The theatrics of AAP's Health Minister heavily costed Punjab. Principal Government Medical College Amritsar Dr Rajiv Devgan and now VC Baba Farid University Dr Raj Bahadur has resigned. These are the very people who saved Punjab during COVID-19, even when the Delhi model had failed. Disheartening!”.
