Banks will remain shut on account of various festivals this month.
All private and public banks will remain closed for a total of 21 days this month. Although bank holidays vary from one state to another, it may not be the same everywhere. Attributing to the various festivals this month, banks will be shut under the Negotiable Instruments Act in few states. However, the ATMs will be working without any disruption. Banks will remain shut on festivals and on second and fourth Saturdays as it is and as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) it is compulsory for banks to remain shut on Sundays. The list of bank holidays this month starting from tomorrow are:
October 12- Durga Puja or Maha Saptami
West Bengal and Tripura
October 13- Durga Puja or Maha Ashtami
West Bengal, Odisha, Tripura, Sikkim, Bihar, Manipur, Jharkhand, Assam
October 14- Dussehra or Maha Navami, Ayutha Pooja
West Bengal, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, Puducherry, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Kerala, Karnataka
October 15- Durga Puja or Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami
Pan India except for Manipur and Himachal Pradesh
October 16- Durga Puja or Dasain (Sikkim)
October 17- Sunday
October 18- Kati Bihu (Assam)
October 19 - Eid-e-Milad, Eid-e-Miladunnabi, Milad-i-Sharif or Prophet Mohammad's Birthday
