Benefits of Betel Leaf

A natural mouth freshener


Betel is a well-known Ayurvedic herb commonly known as Paan. It symbolizes the beginning of auspicious events. They are part of Indian tradition, customs and rituals. It is used as a religious function item in every Hindu rituals. Paan is traditionally eaten after meals considering its aromatic and powerful flavor that serves as a natural mouth freshener. 

 

According to Ayurveda, betel leaves is packed with medical and other health benefits. It has high water content and low calories. It also has low level of fat and to be packed with nutrients such as iodine, vitamin B1, vitamin A, and potassium. 

 

Chewing betel leaf after meal relieves indigestion and cleanses the mouth. Avoid its usage in pregnancy and lactation. 

 

Ayurveda expert Dr. Dixa Bhavsar took to Instagram to share the healthy benefits of Betel leaf. "It is widely used in the treatment of cough, asthma, headache, and arthiritic joint pain etc. It relieves pain and swelling," says the expert. 

 

She added, Betal is an aromatic creeper, you can easily grow it is an ornamental plant in your homes and derive the maximum health benefits from the same."Paan is hot in nature but pan shots are cooling as they contain gulkand, coconut and fennel seeds. So sip in these paan shots and keep summer heat at bay."

Ingredients 

 

* 4 betel leaves ( paan ) torn into small  pieces 

 

* 4 tsp gulkand

 

* 1 tsp fennel seeds 

 

* 1 tsp grated coconut 

 

* 1 tsp mishri 

 

* 1/4 cup water 

 

 

Method 

 

* First of all add the pieces of paan in a mixer.

 

* Then add all other ingredients except water and blend then for a few seconds. 

 

* Then add water and blend until smooth. 

 

* And your paan shots are ready.
