Bengaluru Medical student held for sexually harassing Mother & Daughter

The accused is pursuing post-graduation in Medicine


Bengaluru police arrested a medical student for sexually harassing a 39- year old women and her 21-year-old daughter in Hebbal. The incident took place on December 10.

The accused was identified as Vijay Bhardwaj, a resident of Jayanagar studying post-graduation in medicine from a private college. He is originally from Bihar

According to the police sources, the incident took place around 2 am when the 39-year-old woman, her 19-year-old son and her 21-year-old daughter was heading home after a visit to Hoskote. Later, when they reached Veerannapalya junction one of their SUV's tyre got punctured.

The son got down to change the tyre while the victim and her daughter were helping him. Vijay, who drove a car with a Delhi number plate, passed through the road and noticed the two women. He pulled over, walked up and started talking obscenely to them. He also asked her to get in his vehicle. When all three of them shouted at him, he warned them to take care of them and left the place.

The scared and threatened family reached the police station at night to file a complaint against Vijay. He even followed them in his car for about 2 hours and made verbal threats. Visuals of the same were recorded by the daughter.

The accused filed a complaint at the Amruthahalli police. She sat in the nearby RMC Yard police for a couple of hours and later drove home.

A police officer said in a statement that Vijay was drunk at the time of the incident. Cases were booked against him for outraging the modesty of a woman, criminal intimidation and driving under the influence of alcohol.
