Son died along with his mother in the incident


An incident took place on 10 January, 2023 around 10:45 AM near Namma metro construction site at Nagawra, Bengaluru when a metro pillar suddenly collapsed and hit a bike on which Lohith and his wife Tejaswini were sitting with their twins (a son and a daughter).

Their two-and-a-half-year-old son died with his mother in the incident when the 18-meter-tall metro pillar fell at the outer ring road.  Tejaswini Sulakhe and her son Vihan were seriously injured and quickly shifted to the private hospital but both succumbed to death where her husband Lohith and her daughter Vismitha got minor injuries.

Lohith worked as a civil engineer while his wife was a software engineer in a private firm, they were going to Manyta Tech Park where the twins joined their pre-school.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Anjum Parwez mentioned that the iron ropes were tied from all the sides but one of the wires snapped. He further added that financial assistance of Rs. 20 lakhs and the hospital Expenses will be taken care of by BMRCL.

The police personnel mentioned that the case will be registered against the site engineers, contractor, construction site-in- charge officials of BMRCL and others. However, no individuals have been named in the FIR so far.
