Bitter Cold Weather in the National Capital

The lowest temperature recorded in New Delhi in Last 2 Years...

Cold wave strikes New Delhi from 2ND January as the temperature falls down to 4.4 degrees. Delhi and NCR experiences cold wind at late night and early morning. The severe wave will continue till Friday with a thick cloud cover. Simultaneously, Noida and Gurgaon has recorded 3.3 Degrees at night and 11 degrees at 12pm in the afternoon.

Due to Smog, the visibility has dropped up to 500 meters which has resulted in delay of trains and flights. The Indira Gandhi International airport, on Thursday morning, announced that Low Visibility Procedures are in progress as a thick layer of fog enveloped the National Capital. Travelers are requested to contact their respective airline authorities and be updated regarding the departure timings of various flights.

Meanwhile, 18 trains delayed from various stations like NDLS, ODLS, Nizamudddin Railway Station, and Delhi Cantt Railway Station. The railway authorities have said due to poor visibility most trains are not available to cross the dense fog regions, hence trains are not arriving at their respective destinations on time.

Low visibility is also an issue for the Interstate Buses. Bus drivers cannot drive overnight to nearby locations.

“The weather conditions are really bad because of the North-Westerly Winds blowing all across North India since last week. However we are trying to give regular weather updates so that people are totally aware about the weather conditions and mostly it will be better in the coming week.” A statement from Indian Meteorological Department.
