BJP MLA from Assam urges Modi to demolish Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar

Claims one of seven wonders was constructed with the wealth of Hindu Royalty

In the midst of a controversy over NCERT supposedly removing certain chapters on Mughal history from class 12 textbooks, Assam BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi has sparked outrage by allegedly calling for the demolition of the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar. Kurmi allegedly demands an inquiry into whether Mughal emperor Shah Jahan 'truly loved' his wife Mumtaz in videos widely circulated online.

The MLA requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to demolish such historic monuments, and instead build temples with unparalleled beauty that no other monument can ever match .

"I urge the Prime Minister to demolish the Taj Mahal and the Qutab Minar immediately." In their stead, the world's most beautiful temples should be constructed. "The architecture of those two temples should be such that no other monuments can be built closer to them," MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi stated.

In explaining why the 17th century monarch married three more times after Mumtaz's death, he claimed that one of the world's seven wonders was constructed with the wealth of Hindu royalty.

"In the year 1526, Mughals arrived in India and built the Taj Mahal." Shah Jahan constructed the Taj Mahal with money stolen from Hindu kings, which was our money. He built the Taj Mahal for his fourth bride. Mumtaz was his fourth partner out of seven. "If he loved Mumtaaz so much, why did he marry more wives later?" Kurmi questioned.
