Babul Supriyo tweeted on Monday that he is scheduled to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at 11 am on Tuesday.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) from Asansol, Babul Supriyo is likely to submit his resignation from the post on Tuesday. Former Union Minister Supriyo tweeted on Twitter handle on Monday that he is scheduled to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at 11 am on Tuesday to formally submit his resignation as Lok Sabha MP.
Expressing gratitude to the Speaker for granting him time, he further added that he will not "hold on to the Berth/ Perks/ Salary of a MP" as he is not part of the BJP anymore. Mr. Supriyo had resigned from the BJP and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in September. " I have it in me, will win it again," he asserted.
The move comes after Mr. Supriyo had resigned from the Ministry of State amid Cabinet reshuffle in August. Earlier, he had said that he would leave politics but later on September 18, joined the TMC asserting that he can win again.
