Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait on Friday appealed to the US President Joe Biden to focus on the concern of farmers during the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr Tikait tweeted a message for the President of the United States (POTUS) with an appeal to repeal the "black laws" to save the farmers.

In the tweet, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Tikait wrote that Indian farmers are protesting against the three farm laws that have been brought by the Modi-led government and during the almost one-year long protest at least 700 farmers have lost their lives. The tweet was followed by the hashtag "#Biden_SpeakUp4Farmers."

Hundreds of farmers led by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) have been camping and protesting at the borders of Delhi since November 2020 with a demand to repeal the three agrarian laws. PM Modi is on a three-day visit to the US to attend a first in-person Quad Summit.
