Blessed Celebration Eid-Al-Adha

On the occasion of the blissful festival, the crescent moon for the Zul Hijjah was sighted on July 11, as per Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind. This means that, the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia for 10 days has finally been completed. As per the Islamic culture, Bakrid will be celebrated after 10 days, so it will be on July 21 in India.

This  Eid is also known as Bakra Eid and Eid-al-Adha and people usually wishing “Eid Mubarak” and get revert is “Kher Mubharak” which is in a  traditional phrase used by Muslims to greet each other during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

According to Islamic story, to test Ibrahim who was a near god, Allah commanded him to sacrifice his son Ismail. He accepted it as Allah's will but found his paternal feelings hard to suppress. So, Ibrahim blindfolded himself as per the Allah command's before putting Ismail on the altar at the mount of Mina near Mecca. When he unfolded his bandage after performing the act, he saw that his son was alive and  standing beside him. On the altar lay a slaughtered lamb. Joyous festivities and somber rituals mark this event. After that event, this process got to know through ibrahm-al-salam, and then it continued for the sake of Allah. 

The beginning of Eid is marked by prayer, a group of people gather at a Mosque or at their home which symbolizes devotion to Allah and desires. Muslims can sacrifice a sheep, cow, goat, buffalo or camel as per their will, after the morning Eid prayers, Qurbani means sacrifice, and the meat is divided into 3 parts for the distribution, among destitute, relatives and possess.

Eid is an occasion of prosperity and peace, where people celebrate with their families, Eid cuisine is based on sweets like sheer, dahi bhalle, chole etc, to make meaningful connections with one another and enjoy the happiness together.
