BMC issues new SOPs; no Garba permitted

Online darshans will take place and not more than 5 people will be permitted.

During the upcoming festivals of Durga puja and Diwali, the public gathering is likely to spread Covid-19 among people.

Keeping the consequences in mind, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday issued new guidelines advising citizens to celebrate the festival in a simple manner.

Talking about the things permitted and not permitted during the festivals:

•Garba is not permitted.

•Distribution of prasad and flowers is not permitted.

•Setting stalls is not permitted.

•Online darshans will take place and not more than 5 people will be permitted.

•Sanitisation should be done three times a day.

Navratri with Garba is one of the festivals celebrated with great joy and happiness across Maharashtra. The government also urged people to use clay idols instead of plaster of Paris idols and ordered the immersion of the idols at home.

Meanwhile, Mumbai city reported 527 new Covid-19 cases and 6 deaths.
