Bombay HC Grants Bail To Partho Dasgupta In TRP Scam Case

Former BARC CEO granted bail by Bombay HC in TRP scam case


The former Chief Executing Officer (CEO) of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) Partho Dasgupta an accused in the Television Rating Point (TRP) rigging scam case was granted bail on Tuesday by the Bombay High Court. Dasgupta aged 55, was granted bail on a personal bond of two lakh rupees and two securities of the same amount by Justice PD Naik.

This year in January Dasgupta had approached the Bombay High Court after his bail plea was rejected by the sessions court while noting that he played a vital role in the scam and was alleged ‘mastermind’. On December 24 last year Dasgupta was arrested and is in jail since then.

The former BARC CEO is accused of having misused his official position and overlooking ARG Outlier Media Company, it is a company that runs all Republic TV channels and with Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami in manipulating the TRPs. Republic TV has however declined any legal breach.
