Boy Fell Into 60-Feet Borewell In MP

His life could not be saved…


On Tuesday, an 8-year-old boy fell into a 60-feet-deep borewell in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district was brought out following a rescue operation that lasted for 48 hours.

However, his life couldn't be saved.

The borewell is 60-feet-deep and the boy is stuck at a depth of around 43 feet.

A pit parallel to it is being dug with the help of machines to pull out the child safely.

“Three teams of SDRF and one team of NDRF are on the spot. A camera was lowered into the borewell and the child is being monitored, oxygen is being supplied to the child.

We cannot have connection with him and food has not yet delivered,” news agency ANI quoted Vidisha ASP Sameer Yadav as saying.

“The incident took place around 11 am. Police and the administration reached the spot after receiving the information.

Movements are noticed in the child and we are trying to rescue him as early as possible from our side,” Sameer Yadav added.

The incident took place when the boy, Lokesh Ahirwar, was playing when he slipped into the very narrow hole around 11 am at Kherkhedi Pathar village under Lateri tehsil in the district.

Vidisha Collector Umashankar Bhargava said, “We are digging a 49-feet deep pit and have successfully dug around 34 feet till now. The child will be rescued soon. We are continuously supplying oxygen and our webcams have also been placed”.
