Bride-to-Be Attacked with Acid a Month Before Wedding

In Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh, a man reportedly attacked a 23-year-old bride-to-be by throwing acid on her in Gorakhpur. Police provided this information on Friday.

 

Thursday night in Dharauli village witnessed a distressing incident as the accused, arriving on a scooter, allegedly threw acid on a woman and her mother who were returning home from the market. The assailant swiftly fled the scene, according to reports.

 

The victim, who sustained five to seven percent burn injuries on her face and body, is presently receiving treatment at Gorakhpur's BRD Medical College. Police have confirmed that her condition is stable.

 

The victim, set to be married on December 11, had her plans disrupted by the attack, as highlighted by Maharajganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Kaustubh. In response, 10 police teams have been deployed to identify and apprehend the accused.

 

"The forensic team is actively investigating the matter, having gathered essential information from the woman's family. The police team has proceeded to Gorakhpur to meet with the accused's family," stated Maharajganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Kaustubh.

 

The woman is getting better with around five to seven percent burn injuries. Despite the family's reluctance to take action, the police will file a complaint and pursue strict measures against the accused," he emphasized.
