Brothers arrested for stealing goats to fund movies.

To raise fund for the movie their father was producing, lead actors caught stealing goats.


The incident took place in Washermenpet area of Tamil Nadu where Niranjan Kumar (30), along with his brother Lenin Kumar (32) were stealing goats for the last three years before the Madhavaram police arrested them on Saturday.

The incident came to light on October 9, when one of the several victims, Palani of Madhavaram could not bear the loss of his goats as he only had half a dozen. He lodged a police complaint while police contributed to the matter by checking the CCTV footage of all the nearby areas.In the footage police found out that thieves came in a car whose number plate was not visible. During further investigation Madharavam police found out that several people have lost their goats regularly. Later to get hold on the matter police deployed their personal in civvies to keep a watch while on Saturday, the accused were caught red handed while trying to steal a goat from road.The duo used to target goats that were gazing around the deserted rural stretches of Minjur, Madhavaram, Chengalpet and Ponneri looking for animals who were gazing by the roadside. When no was around the duo would quickly steal one or two goats from the herd and bundle them into the car while speeding away. The brothers confessed that they sold each goat for around Rs 8,000 and have stolen around eight to ten goats a day from multiple locations. According to the police’s statement “Vijay Shankar, the father of the accused was producing a movie named, ‘Nee Than Raja’ and both his sons were in the lead role. Due to lack of finance, the shooting had stopped midway after which the brothers started stealing goats to help in raising fund for the movie production.”
