CBI Arrested the Hyderabad-Based Chartered Accountant

Butuchibabu Gorantla logged under the Delhi excise policy case...

On 8 January 2023, the central bureau of investigation (CBI) arrested the Hyderabad-based chartered accountant identified as Butuchibabu Gorantla in connection with the Delhi excise police case.

As per the statement shared by the CBI on Wednesday, that the CA has been arrested for the allegation of wrongfully formulating and implementing the Delhi excise policy to cause illegal gain to the Hyderabad-based wholesalers and retailer licenses and their beneficiary owners. They further added that the accused will be presented to the court today.

Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal passed the Delhi excise policy in the middle of Covid 19 pandemic in 2021. The policy was created to ensure the growth of optimum revenue and destroy the sale of spurious liquor or non-duty paid liquor in Delhi.

The chief secretary shared the report to the Delhi Lieutenant governor VK Saxena. Following the case, VK Saxena handed the case to CBI and issued the notice to the Delhi excise commissioner.  Last year the CBI started a search operation to Sisodia’s bank locker in a money laundering case but found nothing after the operation several raids were conducted in 7 states.
