CBI Arrests Navy Official In Bribery Case

On Monday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Indian Navy sailor from Mumbai due to the allegations of taking a bribe for giving positive reports in the medical examination of candidates aspiring to join the force.

According to the CBI, the accused, who was currently posted at the Indian Navy Hospital Ship (Aswini Hospital), was demanding Rs. 30,000 to give a positive medical report to aspirants who have cleared their written and physical tests in a recruitment process.

It was further added that the accused, identified as Sanju Aralikatti, directed the complainant to transfer the amount through an online application bearing his phone number.

Following his arrest, searches were conducted on the premises of Aralikatti which led to the recovery of several incriminating documents related to the medical examination of the aspirants.

He was later presented at a local court which sent him to a police remand till November 22.

According to the CBI, the investigation is continuing in the case.
