Student admitted to a private hospital…

A Delhi government school student in Nangloi was injured after her classroom's ceiling fan fell on her head.

On Saturday, The student was injured and has been admitted to a private hospital in Nangloi and is undergoing treatment.

"The fan fell off the ceiling in the classroom on August 27 when the classes were going on. The ceiling was damp and water was dripping from it continuously because of which the ceiling broke off and the fan fell down," she said.

There was no immediate reaction from the school authorities or the government about the incident.

BJP state president Manoj Tiwari held a press conference and demanded an apology from Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia.

“In one of the Delhi government schools, which are supposed to be world-class institutions, a ceiling fan fell on an innocent child and his skull was fractured in Trilokpuri.

Today, a fan has fallen, tomorrow something else may fall on the children but the government is not serious about their security. Sisodia should apologise to the people of Delhi for this incident,” he said.

The school, where the incident took place, recently got new classrooms. “Builders said that the classrooms could be constructed at the cost of ?5 lakh but ?25 lakh were spent on it by the Delhi government on each room. This indicates a scam,” Tiwari said.

The child has been shifted from LBS Hospital to GB Pant hospital for the treatment.
